This is a fun month for us, to see summer leave and fall arrive. Change in the weather is a nice site to see. Being farmers we're outdoors most of the time. Even when not working the farm we love being outdoors. Outdoor evenings for us mean BONFIRE TIME. We have a few through out the fall time.
This is also a busy time for planting, most of the winter crops are already planted. We still direct seed some of the crops. Spinach, Turnips, Mixed Greens will get seeded. Transplants include, Broccoli, Cabbage and Cauliflower to name a few. Spring Garlic also gets planted this week.
Pest control gets to a minimal at this time of the year. Still have to scout for pests, mostly i'm finiding our finding out beneficial. Lacewings and Trichogramma Wasp. Few worms, and aphids but not many.
The Farmers Market at Kaiser is really a BLESSING . Who would of thought we would be doing a farmers market.?? Coming out of the wholesale growing and marketing to this. I LOVE IT. Simple as that, getting to meet and greet the customers that are loyal to us on a weekly basis. It brings a great joy to my heart to hear how much their families like our produce. This is the way the Lord wants it.
Sandie and I thank him every day for the Blessings he has brought are way. AMEN
Our CSA program is gradually growing, we do have a new drop off in Fresno Cal. at Dusty Buns your Local Bistro. They believe in supporting Small Local Farms. Way To Go Dusty Buns. Our 1st drop off is scheduled for the 10th of September. We hope to have at least 10 people wanting our weekly box.
This will be a weekly delivery on Tuesdays mid-morning.
I just want to say Thank You to all of you who do support your local farmers. Without the local people support us small farms. Many would no longer exist.
Do your part and support local family farms, visit your nearest farmers market, get out and find out who grows and produces your food. Join a CSA it sure helps small family farms and helps erase the carbon foot print that is used to get the food to your table.
Will being posting more as things develop.
